Letter from Director Chad Ballengee

Greetings from Southwestern Indiana.  Welcome to the Daviess Martin Special Education Cooperative website.  We are happy you found us!   Our office is located in Washington, Indiana.  We provide special education services to students within Washington Community Schools, North Daviess Community Schools, Barr-Reeve Community Schools and Loogootee Community Schools.  DMSEC takes pride in helping to educate our students to help prepare them for the next stages of their lives.  We help prepare our students to go on to live successful, independent and productive lives.   We provide educational services, psychological testing services, PT, OT, Speech, and transportation services to help our students get the most of their education.  

My name is Chad Ballengee.  I have been the Director for the Daviess Martin Special Ed Cooperative since 2020.  Prior to taking on the Director position, I served as the Assistant Director of DMSEC for 19 years.  My family and I live in Montgomery, Indiana.  My wife, Suzanne, is a pharmacist at Walmart in Jasper, Indiana.  We have two daughters, Anna and Abby.  Anna attends and plays volleyball at Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana.  Abby attends and is a member of the track team as a pole vaulter at Indiana State University.  My wife and I both grew up in Washington, and take pride in helping to ensure the success of our local communities. 

DMSEC believes in partnerships with our families.  It really does take a village to raise young people today.  Parent/Guardian involvement is vital to the success of each student.  Both the parent/guardian as well as the school have special insights on children that are extremely valuable in creating plans to educate.  We want to support our parents/guardians-and we want our parents/guardians to support our schools. In addition, DMSEC follows the rules, laws, policies and recommendations outlined in ESSA, Article 7, as well as the Indiana Department of Education.  We understand that each child is unique, and has their own set of special needs and talents.  We work on creating individualized plans to meet the needs of each individual student.  Washington, North Daviess, Barr-Reeve and Loogootee are all wonderful school corporations.  DMSEC is proud to be part of these wonderful school corporations.
